Opportunities to develop essential skill sets including leadership, critical thinking, public speaking, teamwork, and presentations skills through fun and interactive activities.
A transformative journey filled with meaningful lifelong connections, eye-opening insights, and unforgettable experiences across diverse fields of study.
Business & Entrepreneurship
Turning Ideas into Reality - Ideas Creation and Mini-pitch Activity
This interactive seminar invites high school students to become creative problem solvers through entrepreneurship. In small teams, students will identify everyday problems, brainstorm solutions, and turn ideas into mini ventures. By the end, each group will pitch their idea in 1 minute in front of the mentors. It's fast, fun, and just might spark their first startup journey.
Public Policy & Media Communications
Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Communication
AI is more than just a tool — it's a new kind of media that shapes how we communicate, think, and relate to each other. In this seminar, students will explore how AI technologies like ChatGPT, recommendation algorithms, and influencers are changing the way we interact with information and with one another. Students will reflect on their own experiences with AI and consider its deeper impact on society, communication, and identity.
STEM (Computer Science)
Code-Along: Building the Google Dinosaur Game in Python
In this interactive session, participants will explore fundamental programming concepts by coding a simplified version of the Google Dinosaur Game using Python and the pygame library. The session introduces students to key topics such as game loops, user input handling, object movement, and basic collision detection. Designed as a code-along, the session encourages active participation - students are welcome to follow along on their own devices or observe the live demonstration. No prior coding experience is required.
Economics & Finance
Why don't we just print more money?
If money solves problems, why can't we just print more of it? In this eye-opening seminar, students will explore what actually gives money value - and why printing more can cause more harm than help. Through real-world case studies, students will unpack the concept of inflation, purchasing power, and monetary policy. In groups, students will roleplay as central bank advisors faced with a crisis should they print, tax, or cut?
English Literature (Humanities & Arts)
Creative Writing: What's a Story Only You Can Tell?
In this creative writing seminar, students will explore the power of personal narrative. Through a short reading from Ocean Vuong, we'll discuss what makes a piece feel emotionally honest and unforgettable. Then, students will write a short reflection or poem based on a meaningful moment in their own life. No writing experience needed.
Biotechnology
Proteins: Nature's Tiny Machines
Have you ever wondered what proteins really are and how they enable the processes that sustain life? Why does the shape of a protein matter, and how do these tiny molecular machines perform essential roles in the human body? This session explores what proteins are and how they drive essential biological processes. It covers the basic building blocks, amino acids, and how their sequence shapes a protein's three-dimensional structure. Key examples of human proteins will be discussed, along with concepts like protein folding and the link between structure and function. The seminar also examines how scientists study proteins and apply this knowledge in biotechnology and medicine, including drug development and therapeutic treatments. By the end, students will gain a clear understanding of proteins' vital roles in life sciences and an appreciation of their molecular complexity in health and disease.
